Why is Yahoo Answers so whacked?
Asking costs you 5 points? Why the heck would you set up a whole forum for the specific purpose of finding answers to obscure stuff that you can’t find with a search, and then penalize people for asking questions?
Why do you automatically give people 2 points for answering a question, no matter how crap their answer is?
Why do you have a system where you let a bunch of losers go around giving whack answers, then coming back and voting for their own crap/spam answer as the best answer, and then rewarding them with points and levels? Seriously, there are some major losers who vote for every single one of their own answers, no matter how stupid it is, even if a question has 5 other answers that are all better.
Wouldn’t it make more sense to throw out that limited-time come-back-and- vote-for -yourself period and use the thumb up, thumb down method which seems much more accurate?
How many answers are there where the so-called "best answer" is some load of BS with 10 thumbs down?
I think it would help if there was 0 points for asking, 0 points for answering (to eliminate a lot of spam) and everyone with a "best answer" rating higher than say 30% who also has more than maybe 5000 or 10000 points ought to get reviewed.
A problem is that most people who are serious don’t care much about the point system, so don’t bother voting for best answer, but they do use the thumbs up/down.
You should only get points based on your thumbs up rating, which means that other people actually agree with your answer, and you should lose points for thumbs down. If you get too many thumbs down in a certain time period, you should be suspended from the forum.
And if you give too many thumbs down in a certain time period, you should be suspended from voting.

As is the case with any system, you will find losers everywhere.
Feel happy that you are not like them, and there are more out there that also are not like those.
Eventually, we serious people will weed out the dimwits, losers, nitwits and people without any life – but we also need to use the "abuse" reporting more.
The guidelines state that a crap message or just a "hello" is against Y!A policy – so , report them.
Having said that, Yahoo could start to use IP blocking for these trolls.
I agree!
you’re on here, aren’t you?
Someone is a little upset right now

Some people just don’t give the best answers but are voted the best answer.
I’ve had similar thoughts myself. The point system does seem to bring out the worst in some people (IE. unqualified people simply answering to get 2 points). I agree that some people are going to vote for their own answers, regardless of how bad that answer may be. On the other hand, there are a lot of responsible users who enjoy helping people, and the point system allows them to be rewarded. And what about those people who feel their answer is truly the best? Shouldn’t they be able to vote for themselves then? The system isn’t perfect, but it does add a little fun to Y!A. My personal pet peeve is when someone gives essentially the same answer I did, AFTER I answered, and then somehow ends up with the "best answer."
Thanks for the two points!
