Pretty much what she said
try http://www.familysearch.org/
If you are in the county of the person you are looking for you can go to the Health Department and ask for a genealogist birth data sheet and get that free. If not you can write to the Health Department in the county for are looking for in Florida to ask for one. They also have death data sheets available. But, in some states they passed a law not to give the parents name after a certain year. Each state varies. There are also web sites: http://www.rootsweb.com, http://www.lds.org, and http://www.usgenweb.org if you are searching your family tree and these are free sites. Hope this helps you.
This will let you find a person if he/she has a listed phone number in their name:

The LDS site is, as the other two posters said, wonderful, but it doesn’t have anyone who is still living.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints runs a free geneology center where you can search the records of a person. There are guides available to help and it is open to people who are not a member of the Church. You can check out the website at http://www.lds.org.
