Is it possible to find the IP address and location of the computer if the person is online on yahoo messanger?
Please help to catch a suspect in a robbery case, pls reply asap if you have the answer.

Go to http://www.ripe.net/perl/whois and type in the IP address, that should at least give you the ISP name if you need to make an abuse complaint.
Report it to the police. The IP will only return the IP of the domain of where he is located. Unless he is directly connected to the net, that is, has his own domain server, the IP will only resolve back to the DNS host. Only law enforcement can obtain, usually through court actions, the actual end user IP that maps to his personal computer.
For example, if I was talking to you via yahoo, you would see that I am with Shaw Cable, but that is as far as you would see. But Shaw has probably several thousand people online, so you wouldn’t be able to narrow it down to me personally, just to my internet provider.
AASH can you give more detail on how this is done I mean exactly I have a nigerian who mailed me a forged check from Ogden UT and I need to get him put away before he cons someone he doesn’t know I am aware of the scam yet please ASAP

You can take ip address by tow way ….
1- when you toking with any person you want to take his ip
close all programe and open DOS window and Write that
netstat
and you will get ip addrees of this person .
2- if you can to create just one page take ip address that is the best .
