What your friend CAN do, is get appointed executor of her estate, and go to her bank (they&#039;ll be sending statements, if she doesn&#039;t know what bank she uses), and ask for records of checks for the past 5 years or so, to see if there have been any payments.  

She can also find out if there&#039;s a safety deposit box there.  

I&#039;d ALSO go to her insurance card in the car, find out who her agent is, and call them to see if they have any life insurance in place.  Again, you&#039;ll need the executor agreement to do that.</description>
